Second grade is an important transition year.  A supportive environment is provided as the children move toward becoming independent and responsible students. 

Your child will start to use:

An assignment book to record daily homework and reminders A homework folder to transport papers to and from school   A typical day will include: Morning Meeting Reading (guided, shared and independent) Phonics Instruction  Spelling Printing Writing Math Science or Social Studies Computer Instruction (weekly)

Second grade also has field trips and special projects throughout the year.
