Barbara Samide
Welcome
to the Harry S Truman Elementary School.
We are a caring community of students, parents, and staff committed to
student learning and development.
Our school is comprised of approximately 450 students in 22 classrooms in
grades kindergarten through five.
Thirty-four teachers and fourteen instructional assistants work each day
to help our students grow and learn.
Our
dedicated staff continually seeks to employ best practices in learning.
Our instructional program includes balanced literacy, process writing,
performance assessment, student portfolios, differentiated instruction, and
interdisciplinary units.
We are committed to the belief that all children can learn.
Recognizing
the importance of the development of the whole child, we offer instruction in Art,
Vocal and Instrumental Music, Library, and Physical Education.
Teachers provide weekly instruction in their special areas.
Technology
is an important part of our program at Harry S Truman.
We have a computer technician who supports our staff and students. Our
computer lab offers a wide variety of software and research options.
Computers are also available in the classrooms and the library media
center.
To
support our learning process we offer special education services of learning
support, emotional support, speech and language, guidance, English as a second
language, and gifted support.
We also offer instructional support and Title I services.
Our
PTA is a vital part of the Harry S Truman family.
The PTA provides volunteers to work in the classrooms and support special
events. Their
fund raising efforts make possible special programs and class trips.
Our
webpage offers additional information about our school.
We are proud of our quality school.
Thank you for visiting.
Sincerely,
Barbara
