FINANCIAL AID: -Are you planning to apply for Financial Aid? If so, then you should complete the FAFSA (this is the free financial aid application form). This application must be completed in order to be eligible to receive any financial aid provided by the federal government. States and colleges also use the FAFSA to determine eligibility for state and institutional aid. The preferred method of filing the FAFSA is on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Do not file before January 1, 2008. However, you and your parent(s) should apply for your PIN numbers before beginning the application process at www.pin.ed.gov FAFSA Worksheets are available in the guidance office.
***JUNIORS: Mark your calendar for the “Alumnae Symposium” on Thursday, Dec. 20th. This will be your opportunity to hear some “words of wisdom”, (and to ask questions), from Salisbury graduates who have graciously agreed to return and share their experiences since they graduated. The Symposium will be held in the auditorium during 6th period.

The representative from the Emerging Health Careers Program will be visiting the high school on Jan. 8, 2008 at 10:00 am. Requirements include: overall GPA of B or better and completion of biology, chemistry and algebra II with a B or better. This program is a joint venture with Lehigh Valley Hospital, Penn State University and LCTI. If interested, please stop in the guidance office ASAP. -Are you interested in pursuing a career in the Engineering Field? The representative from the Emerging Engineering Professionals Program will be visiting the high school on Jan. 8, 2008 at 10:00 am. Requirements include: overall GPA of B or better and completion of Calculus with a B or better (or will be enrolled in Calculus during the senior year). This program is a joint venture with Penn State University and LCTI with Job Shadowing opportunities in the Engineering field. If interested, please stop in the guidance office ASAP.
SCHOLARSHIP/ESSAY INFORMATION: -Commerce Bank is sponsoring American Dream Scholarships for seniors residing in a county served by Commerce Bank and who have demonstrated involvement in community service, school activities and/or employment responsibilities. Deadline – December 15th. -The PA Elks Association is sponsoring a Scholarship/Leadership Financial aid Program for seniors. Each application must be filed and approved by the Lodge in the area in which the student has legal residence. Essay is required. Senior should be in the top 10% of the class. Deadline – January 11, 2008. -Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. is sponsoring the Sam Walton Community Scholarship program. Information regarding eligibility and application requirements can be found at: www.walmartfoundation.org. Deadline for entry is 1/14/08. -The Big 33 Scholarships provide financial assistance to seniors who exhibit excellence in a well rounded educational and extracurricular program.
