LCCC offers a two year program designed to train students for positions as paraeducators within the field of special education. Field experiences and observations are incorporated into the program. JUNIORS - Applications are now available for a new PA Governor’s Schools of Excellence: The PA Governor’s School for Urban Teaching. This is for the student interested in teaching in urban districts, such as Philadelphia. Deadline – March 15th.
*SCHOLARSHIPS --The United Steelworkers of America is sponsoring the Hugh Carcella Scholarship Program for children of members of the local union. Deadline – March 15th --Applications are available for the Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund for seniors who have demonstrated leadership abilities through community service, extra curricular or other activities. An essay is required. Deadline – March 15th --Women Unlimited, Inc. is sponsoring scholarships for qualified African American seniors who plan to attend a post secondary school after graduation. Deadline – March 31st --Lutron Electronics will again be offering $1000 merit-based scholarships for seniors planning to pursue degrees in engineering and/or technology fields. Deadline – March 31st --The Lehigh Valley Military Affairs Council is again sponsoring a scholarship program for students who are family members of military personnel (Active, Reserve and National Guard). Deadline – March 31st --Firstrust Bank is sponsoring the Samuel A. Green Scholarship Program. You will need to write an essay on: How your college education will help you cultivate prosperity in your neighborhood/community. Deadline – March 31st --The Martin D. Cohen Family Foundation is sponsoring a scholarship program for students who need financial assistance to further their education. Deadline – April 1st --The Lehigh Valley Couturiere Society sponsors scholarships for students who are pursuing the study of Fashion Design, Textiles or Clothing Construction. Deadline – April 1st --Richard C. Metzler, Sr. Memorial Scholarship – senior must be accepted in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Forensic Science at a Community College or accredited college or university. In addition to the application, the student must submit a 500 work essay: “The Most Influential Person in my Life” or “What a Career in Law Enforcement Means to Me.” Applications are available in the guidance office. Deadline - April 7th --LeCoMASE, a medical scholarship fund, is offering a limited number of NURSES’ Scholarships to qualified seniors for their first year of nursing study. Deadline – April 10th --Devon Health Services, Inc. is sponsoring a Scholars Scholarship Contest for seniors interested in pursuing a career in the healthcare industry. Deadline – April 11th --The PA Association of Medical Suppliers (PAMS) is offering a scholarship to a deserving senior who has overcome physical challenges with the help of home medical equipment and supplies. The award must be used toward a post-high school education program. Deadline – April 11th
