Near the beginning of the school year, I visited each faculty to share with you the technology planning process that was to be implemented this year. Since then we have been making progress:
- Data was collected in the Assessment Phase of the process from a variety of sources: principals, teachers and students. Teachers and principals also participated in a comprehensive, online survey - Levels of Technology Implementation.
- Formation of a District Technology Committee consisting of teachers, principals, students, parents, community members, board members, and administratiors. During our first two meetings, this group used the collected data along with research to answer the question: What do we want the classrooms of Salisbury to look like in terms of teaching, learning and technology? At our most recent meeting, the group developed a vision, mission and beliefs pertaining to the use of technology in instruction.
We are at the point where we will be visiting the school faculties to share our work to date and also to organize building level technology sub-committees. These building-based teams will be designing their specific technology and learning implementation plans based on the vision, mission and beliefs. These plans will extend for three years: 2007-2010.
This entire process will culminate in a Salisbury Township School District Technology Integration Plan. This document will include:
- Vision, Mission, Beliefs, Goals for technology, teaching and learning
- Presentation and analysis of data collection
- District Technology and Learning Implementation Plan (including professional development)
- Building Level Technology and Learning Implementation Plans
- Network and Telecommunications Plan
- Assessment, Review and Update Process
The committee's resources and work are available for anyone to examine:
